Cemeteries are transformed into gardens filled with marigolds, incense, and music to celebrate life. This night is sacred; families gather with their loved ones for an emotional reunion before they depart. We will visit two cemeteries that offer deep insight into the true meaning of the Day of the Dead in Oaxaca. First, we will head to the Tlalixtac cemetery, a more traditional setting that embraces local customs, followed by a visit to the San Felipe del Agua cemetery, where the lighting and decorations take on more vivid, warm colors, often accompanied by live music to joyfully remember those who are no longer with us.
